“The Moment” on Salon.com

“For many of us, there’s a single moment in our life when it all changed. For Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of “Eat, Pray, Love,” it was the moment when, as a baby, she overheard her parents talking and realized she wasn’t the center of the world. For Richard Ferguson, it was when his beloved dog was run over by a truck. … These stories are all part a beautifully written, moving new collection of essays edited by Larry Smith, the founder of Smith Magazine, about the instance when a person’s life takes a new path.”

“Found Jewish princess. Goodbye succulent pork.”
“Adam Sandler, update your Chanukah list.”
“Yes, I’m wearing a sweater, Mom.”

“Everything with us a question. Why?”

During this season of celebration, we’ve launched our newest Six-Word Memoir project, “Six Words on the Jewish Life” with our friends at the Jewish nonprofit, Reboot. The best of the Jewish sixes will be published in a book this coming February and featured at live events in London (Feb. 25 in the London Jewish Book Festival), NYC (March 29 at the 92nd Street Y), DC (April 3, at Sixth & I)—more events TBA!

Submission deadline: Dec. 25.
